Our Story

Portuguese Jeans Manufacturer began as a single-employee venture in the early 1990´s and grew into an experienced, well established family-run business in today´s fast-changing fashion industry.

From our humble beginnings, Maria da Conceição Simões Gomes, founder of Portuguese Jeans Manufacturer, worked arduously as a dedicated seamstress assembling T-shirts and sweatshirts to provide for her family.

Fabric, sewing machines and hard work consumed Maria da Conceição´s and her children´s daily routines, so it was no surprise that they too would inevitably become involved in the textile world themselves. Along with her two eldest sons, they ventured into denim garment assembly and by the mid 90´s they had modestly expanded their business, now employing 10 people, and worked for recognized national denim brands. Garment assembly was then, and continues to be done, with precision and close attention to detail thus always insuring delivery of quality production to each client.

By the turn of the millennium, jeans were on the rise in our national market and too the demand for quality production. Consequently, our business expanded once more now incorporating denim cutting, finishing and detailing. All of which required more manual labour as well. With this expansion, opportunity of employment was provided to another 10 people thus increasing our production capacity.
The millennium opened doors to new visions and opportunities which saw the creation of our Design department. Pattern drafting, scaling and modeling introduced us to new clients, partners and business opportunities as we could now develop and design our own patterns as well as those requested by new clients.
